Tourism Internet Marketing Blog 2.0

screenshot.jpgWelcome to the new blog layout!

Jens Thraenhart recently asked me to participate as a contributor on this blog, the second edition of his Tourism Internet Marketing site. That sounded like fun to me, so I was happy to agree.

Jens knows lots about e-marketing for the travel trade. And he has many savvy friends and colleagues in the industry, some of whom will be posting right here on the blog. I’m excited to be a part of that momentum.

We agree that collaborative, or community blogging is the best way to build a valuable resource so I’m glad to see this popular blog move in this direction.

No doubt Jens asked me to join him here (along with Travel 2.0 pros like Claude Benard of because of my passion for online hospitality marketing…but it probably didn’t hurt that I know my way around the WordPress platform.

After three days of much concentration, this new blog layout is pretty much fully functional. The theme itself was created by design maven Brian Gardner, and we purchased it over at We didn’t change the look and feel much, but I’ve tweaked and customized the layout just about everywhere. That will probably continue for the weeks ahead.

It’s easy to improve on a layout when it is

Jens, Chris, congratulations from “Down Under” – very glad to see our discipline has got it’s own domain name, a very professional layout and content that is centered around user-participation and discussion.

Thank you for giving our industry and passion the place it deserves not only in the online space but amongst the minds of traditional marketers who could still have had their doubts.

looking forward to my daily dose!

Cheers, Merci!

Hey guys,

I’m eager to read about your experiences with Tourism Marketing using the Social Networks and other Web 2.0 Properties.

Has your search engine marketing routine changed?

Oh, by the way, how WAS the Global Travel and Tourism Summit, organized by WTTC in Dubai – with 1,000 of the most influential leaders in global travel + tourism?

Hi Chris, Stephen and Claude!

I’ve really learned a lot from your articles here and hope the change of season brings your team back together to share the knowledge some more!

After reading everything about Tourism Internet Marketing on your sites and blogs, I keep coming back – and I learn more when I read it again…

But I don’t think there’s been a new post here since April. πŸ™

I’d be keen to hear you views on the new Social Media marketing strategies that are all the rage – and how these might be used, or should they be used in Tourism Marketing strategies for 2009?

Thanks again for this valuable resource.
